I was out at LaGrange, KY this past Saturday to get some new ink done and it happened to be Oldham County Day. It was a day festival/fair with political parties setting up booths, live music (3 different bands at once), food, and lots of people. One thing that I really like about this small town, is the fact that the train runs right down the middle of main street.

So as I am waiting from my appointment, I start to hear a rumble under foot. I look down to my right and I see a train headed our way. Now growing up in a city, trains are something that you get out of the way of. I figured that the good people standing out in the street, or even those close would move a bit, seeing as there was a massive piece of engineering headed our way. I was quite wrong on that account.

This photo shows that how accustom we get to our surroundings. The townsfolk have grown up with this train headed through town their whole life. They are not phased by the possible danger or the noise that it brings. It it just apart of what makes this town special. I cast the photo a little darker and grungier because that is how it made me feel. Not grungy in a bad way, but in a blast from the past, when kids stayed out until the street lights came on, when there was no worry about leaving your house locked at night, and to show how powerful a small community really is.

This is an photo from a couple months ago, from the day my new D300s arrived. I was so excited to have a new camera. Stepping up from a D40->D300s was a huge step. I have had the body for almost 2 months and I am still getting used to it.

This show was taken in the late afternoon (right after work). The sun was not quite at the golden hour but it was still dropping giving me a nice warm cast to the flower. I found a nice little batch of these flowers right off the road near a locale park. I went out shooting with my 50mm f1.4 E Series (85mm equivalent). This is an older lens, and I mean older then my age. One of the pros of upgrading bodies was the ability to meter with my old lenses. It is a great lens.

Anyway, the post work for this is a bump in the contrast, clarity, and upping the saturation on the “red” colors. Just to make it pop a little more.

I am currently playing around with a new website design. For those that have been here before this is quick obvious. I made the decision to stop my Project 365. Really this decision was made for me seeing as I have not posted on a new photo in a while. That is problem and I am the only one to blame.

I as taking snapshots of random items just to have a “photo of the day”. Now sometimes this works out. This photo was taken in Chicago with Jessica, just a simple snap. I like it, hell I like it a lot, but I got lucky. This new design will focus on my photography, but not necessary the photos I take.

I will post items here that I really am happy with. I will write a little about them, let you know where I was (physically, emotionally, or spiritually) when I took it. I might talk about the post processing I did. I might post my favorite photo from a series I did, where the link will be in the notes. The goal is to publish less content and less crap. If I can post once a week I will be happy. Well will see. If you want to check out some of my past “snapshots” check out my Flicker Page.
